Reflecting on a powerful weekend of healing and growth, this devotional draws from Psalm 3 to encourage men to overcome fear and striving by trusting in God's deliverance and presence.
Awakened to True Life: Reflections on Psalm 4
"How long will you live in illusions and seek false gods… You alone Lord make me dwell in safety." (Psalm 4 excerpts)
There’s a lot of talk these days about waking up, and rightfully so. We need to be awakened. Yes, awakened from the spell we've fallen under—the spell of this world and our enemy.
I mean—here I sit in my comfortable, cozy little space—while all around me people are literally fighting for their lives. Delusions of safety through false gods of comfort and prosperity have rolled in on us like a thick fog.
Maybe the worst of it all is how we’ve missed the life offered by the one true God… His life. Life where there’s plenty for everyone. Life where joy abounds. Life where we all don’t just get along, but truly we give our best for each other! Life more abundant is the way Jesus put it.
Oh I know—Heaven ain’t here yet—and perfection for the time being is beyond us, but surely we can do better. Surely Christ in us, our hope of glory, is better.
Let’s pray.
Father, break through our delusions. Holy Spirit, lift the fog and expose our false gods. Jesus, bring us into the truth of the Love You’ve given us. Yes. Come Lord Jesus. So fill our hearts with Yourself, we all be awakened. Amen.
Yep, we can do better. What you think. Y’all believe it? Good. Me too. Come on then. Let’s Go!
Reflecting on Psalms 2:10-11, we are reminded to serve the Lord with reverence and to surrender our lives to His Kingdom, trusting in His love and wisdom.
Reflect on Psalm 1:1-3 and the invitation to live the good life by delighting in God's ways. Pray for the Essentials Weekend and consider what it means to surrender to God's call.
