Passing from Death to Life: Loving as Evidence

Please keep me and our CORE Life Essentials Team and their families in your prayers as we go on offense in the great battle for Men's Hearts this coming weekend at our Essentials Intensive. There will not be a devotional this weekend via email, but I will resume next Tuesday. Now on to today's devotional!

"We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death." — 1 John 3:14

Do you ever question your salvation? Wonder if you're truly right with God? Maybe you did something terrible, or have some sin habit you just can't seem to shake. And so comes the question: How could I have done such a thing and still be forgiven?

Remember this: It is the Love of God that saved you in the first place, not what you did or didn't do. It was His desire to see you and me restored to what He made us for—to be walking, talking, living, breathing expressions of His Love in this physical world He made. Do you believe that? Do you believe He can do that? That as we place faith in Him we receive His Love and Life into our hearts and so we're changed!

If yes, then stop the self-preoccupation of questioning, and get on about the business of loving others. This is how we know we have His Life in us: that we love one another.

One last thing—this Love: it's more than a feeling. More even than a desire. Yes. This Love is a compulsion to see others rise into the Life they were made for.

We should pray.

Holy Spirit, grow God's Love in my life—my body, soul, and spirit—my heart, mind, and will. I want Your Love, Almighty God, to become the most powerful force in all my life. Thank You, Lord, for Your promise to do this day by day—to bring me into complete union with You. Amen.
