Love in Action

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." 1 John 4:7-8

So, loving others is the sign I've been born of God and know Him. Well, I guess that makes sense when I think about His life being in me. I mean, what else would He do in and through me, but love folks 😊. So this is how I'm to recognize my brothers and sisters who are born of God! By their love, more than by their words. By their love, more than by their church attendance. By their love, more than by their religious rule keeping. Awesome!

So I wonder how the people I meet will experience the love of God through me today? Now I know, some might protest—Charles, you don't know what's going on in my life. You don't know what I've been through. You're telling me to love folks when I'm just trying to survive.

Well friend, what if the only way you and I survive, and even thrive, in what we're going through is to let Jesus have His way in us to love those around us.

Let's pray.

Almighty God I give You my life right now as a vessel for Your love. Yes Jesus—live through me and as me for kindness and patience and forgiveness and generosity and all the ways of love. And in all this then Holy Spirit, bring me to life. Amen.
