Overcoming the World by Faith

"For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." 1 John 5:4

The world. A system designed to keep itself going without God. Intentionally built to keep its inhabitants from knowing God. A system where promises are made for a "good life"—just enough given to draw us in, before the trap is sprung. A system filled with counterfeits. Counterfeit joy. Counterfeit peace. Counterfeit adventure. Counterfeit fulfillment. Counterfeit... Well you get it—nothing is real or lasting. A precursor to hell itself. Dog eat dog. Every man for himself. Never enough. Never enough food or shelter or money or time... Never enough of the good life and so you better get yours while you can—hook or crook.

The world. Sophisticated and diabolical, preying on fear and loneliness to create chaos and conflict. It's the way that seems right to a man, whose end is death. So how do we overcome this matrix of death? Well...

"Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" 1 John 5:5

You see there is a man Who offers more. Neverending always enough, more. More than enough goodness, wisdom, power, joy, fulfillment, love and on it goes. The man Jesus Christ. Son of man and Son of God. The One Who overcame the world and even death itself. Do we believe in Him? Will we trust Him more today than yesterday? Or will we just keep trying to make our own way? Let's pray.

Lord Jesus, I believe in You. I worship You and trust You. Holy Spirit lead me deeper into Jesus today so I might rise above this broken world and become a part of the great restoration. Amen.
