Reflect on how faith in Jesus empowers us to overcome the world's empty promises and live in true victory.
The Peace of Christ in the Storm
"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27
A friend recently told me about a dream she'd had. She saw herself in the ocean with a storm raging all around. She was terrified and fighting for all her worth just to keep her head above water. Then she saw a man. A man she recognized—someone important in her life—who was there and watching, but not moving to save her. She cried out to him, and still, he did nothing. Finally, she gave up on the man and cried out to God... "Lord save me," she cried. "Don't you care that I'm drowning?" At that very moment, it was as if a camera zoomed in on her, and she could see she had on a life jacket. She could see all her fear and striving were simply wasted energy.
Christian, how many times have we been overcome with fear, desperately trying to save ourselves, or looking to something or someone for a rescue they couldn't give? How many times have we forgotten we were always safe in the arms of Jesus?
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." Psalms 46:1-3
Let's pray.
Holy Spirit help me always remember and know You are with me. Jesus is with me. Father is with me. Yes. Help me remember and know, and so calm my fearful heart. Amen.
The Peace of Christ—Christ Himself—with us and in us. What do you think? Y'all ready for that? Good. Me too. Come on then. Let's go!
