Reflecting on Jesus' promise of peace, this devotional encourages us to trust in God's presence amid life's storms, remembering that we are always secure in Him.
Faith That Overcomes the World
"...this is love for God: to keep His commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith." 1 John 5:3-4
Do you do what God tells you to do? Why? Is it from fear, to get something in return, out of a sense of duty, or maybe from gratitude? All these motivations have their place, but if we want a life that overcomes the pull of the world, we must come to love—prefer, choose, value—God more than anything the world offers.
After all, isn't this what God wants? That we would love Him the way He's loved us. Remember, He gave His life for us. Will we give our lives for Him? He gave His life to us. Will we give our lives to Him to inhabit and live through us, bringing His Kingdom to our world?
Friends, it's really not about rule keeping, but faith in the One who loves us and has promised to bring us into the lives we all truly long for.
Let's pray.
Father, we love You. Holy Spirit, lead us into deeper faith and trust in Jesus. Help us to know the only One who can give us victory to overcome the pull of the world. Amen.
Faith that overcomes the world—what do you think? Are you ready for that? Good. Me too. Come on then. Let's go!
Reflect on how faith in Jesus empowers us to overcome the world's empty promises and live in true victory.
